Participation in the GTA PD Program and attendance at other CAETL events provides an opportunity for professional development as well as formal recognition of participation. At the conclusion of the academic year, students who have participated in GTA professional development workshops are eligible to receive a “Certificate of Participation” documenting their hours of completed participation in the program. Attendance at other CAETL events is also recognized. This certificate can be a valuable addition to a graduate student’s curriculum vitae when applying for academic positions, doctoral programs and post-doctoral placements. In addition to three new sessions which will be offered this spring “Managing Class Discussions”, Creating a Lesson Plan, and “The Multicultural Classroom”), we are again offering the introductory “Teaching as a Professional Responsibility” workshop for all new GTAs and any others who were unable to attend one of the sessions last fall. If you were unable to attend one of the fall sessions on “Teaching as a Professional Responsibility” you
